Rotterdam launches their Walking Strategy and its brilliant!
A year after hosting Walk21 the City of Rotterdam has launched an ambitious vision for their city that puts 'The Pedestrian on a Pedestal' - a great strategy that outlines the ambition and call to action to deliver a more walkabillity to benefit all of their citizens.
Judith Bokhove, Vice Mayor for Urban Mobility continues to champion the city's steps forward committing to a city where 'pedestrians have all the space they need'.
Kindly, the city has produced the strategy in English as well as Dutch and we encourage every city to read and learn from it as a template. Several speakers from the Walk21 2019 conference are quoted in it including: Sonia Lavadinho, Nico Larco, Matthijs van der Poel (Looprecept), Helge Hilnhutter and Giuliano Mingardo.
What a great legacy for the City of Rotterdam. Many of you will have literally seen 'the writing on the wall' at the conference, but its brilliant to see it now captured in policy and being delivered!
Many congratulations to Judith, Monique, Karen, Eveline, Cynthia, Yara, José, André, Danny, Lieve, Vivian, Jesse and Kaj . You are one of the most dedicated and enthusiastic teams we have ever worked with, and have every confidence that Rotterdam will soon become one of the most walkable cities in the world.
