The Netherlands First National Walking Summit

June 30, 2017

Jim Walker visited Rotterdam in mid-June to work with Acquire Publishing to develop Holland's first national walking summit, Lopen Loont. It is 7 years since the Walk21 conference was hosted by The Hague and it is exciting to see the national movement now growing with lots of activity in several cities. Acquire Publishing is a media company specialising in architecture, space and mobility and decided to host the conference, in the City of Rotterdam, to bring together all the professionals now working on walking in The Netherlands.  The congress aims to brainstorm collective visions for organising the surge in more walking which is being felt across the country.

Walk21 will be back in Rotterdam on 4 July to take part in the summit and is looking forward to catching up with all the policy makers, planners, activists, health professionals and academics that are making the impressive changes to the city's walkability.
