Introducing Partners for Walk21 Hong Kong

July 15, 2016

We are happy to introduce two partners - Jane's Walk and Clean Air Asia -  that are Supporting Organisations for the Walk21 conference in Hong Kong. They will bring an emphasis on community engagement and urban health to the discourse.

Jane’s Walk is a movement of free, citizen-led walking tours inspired by the late writer and urban activist Jane Jacobs. The walks invite people to tell stories, explore their cities, and connect with neighbours. Anyone can lead a walk because everyone is an expert on the places they live, work and play.

Each year, Jane’s Walk runs a global festival on the first weekend in May. In 2015, 189 cities participated simultaneously across 6 continents, from Calgary to Calcutta. 2016 is the 10th Anniversary of the project, as well as the Jane Jacobs Centenary, which is being celebrated internationally.

Clean Air Asia is an international non-governmental organization that leads the regional mission for better air quality and healthier, more livable cities in Asia. They aim to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in 1000+ cities in Asia through policies and programs that cover air quality, transport and industrial emissions and energy use.  They work with ministries (energy, environment, health and transport), cities in Asia, private sector and development agencies to provide leadership and technical knowledge in the following areas: Air Quality and Climate Change, Low Emissions Urban Development, Clean Fuels and Vehicles and Green Freight and Logistics.
