Youth and Mobility: Walking for Transport Futures

We wrapped up our COP21 experience with the side-event hosted by the PPMC called: Youth and Mobility: Transport Futures - What's Your's? We had a live link to Superhero Peatónito in Mexico City to call out people walking as the "good bugs" in the climate change discussion. And another well-known Walk21 affiliate, the Green City Project, hosted their enlightening and entertaining Transport Bingo game.

Other great initiatives working for climate change awareness and change in transport systems were shared and celebrated:

The Belgian Climate Express presented advocacy work for a strong climate agreement at COP21 shifting from a real-life march to a march in social media.

Representatives from the initiative Y4PT Youth are campaigning for climate action from a health perspective to create more breathable cities.

And two surprise guests - the initiatives Bike 4 a Future and Pole to Paris - demonstrated how active transport can go a long way for raising awareness about climate issues. The event was concluded by an expert panel featuring: Philippe Crist (Corporate Partnership Board, International Transport Forum), Patrick Oliva (Michelin Group, Strategic Anticipation and Sustainable Development), Max van Deursen (Dutch Youth Representative Sustainable Development at the United Nations), Tikender Singh Panwar (Deputy Major of Shimla, India) and Bronwen Thornton (Walk21 Development Director).

The Programe and presentations from the event canbe found here.
