As we celebrate the agreement reached in Paris last week, and look hopefully into a future of action on climate change, I would like to share with you the involvement of Walk21 at these talks for the first time.
As you can imagine, the whole world was there and the event was huge! The representatives of the 195 UNFCCC member states, NGOs, civil society, activist groups and the private sector filled the pavilions and meeting rooms with discussions, debate, dancing and demonstrations.
We participated in a number of events to emphasise the efficient and often overshadowed potential of walking as essentially carbon free mobility. As part of the PPMC (see below) we have forged new alliances and relationships, been inspired by so many and shared our approach with new audiences. Here's a brief recap of our experiences.
And we would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very festive Christmas and a Happy New Year for Walking!
