The Global Walking Network

Walk21 has been growing a community of interest in walking since 2000.  The informal network that has grown reaches into almost every corner of the globe and been instrumental to the renaissance of professional, political and community interest in and commitment to walking over that time.  Walk21 has been inspired to setup a more formal network and broader partnership.  The model aims to be comprehensive, authoritative and inclusive, for those with both direct and indirect interest in walking, and represents the full geographic extent of the movement. The new Global Network embraces individuals as well as organisations, giving people, local authorities, businesses, organisations and institutions the opportunity to demonstrate their interest in and commitment to walking.

Walk21 has increasingly been called on to represent walking at a range of international, national, local, academic and community forums too.  Many are asking for walking to have a stronger, more visible and consistent voice internationally.

Walk21 plans to map the global movement in the near future to help the Network share their experiences and collaborate on proven policy and projects.
