Who am I?: Ian is the Executive Director of Kinect Australia and recently chaired the Melbourne Walk21 2006 conference alongside duties as program director for the supporting promotional event, Walktober.

Ian is the Executive Director of Kinect Australia and recently chaired the Melbourne Walk21 2006 conference alongside duties as program director for the supporting promotional event, Walktober.
Kinect Australia’s mission is to promote active living amongst all Australians to enhance health and well-being, build stronger communities and create more liveable and sustainable environments.
Ian has been involved in the promotion of public health through physical activity for nearly 30 years in a number of practitioner, teaching and management roles. He is a member of many consultative committees and current Chair of a Victoria University Industry Advisory Committee. He has been a key instigator and contributor to the development of a range of national and state strategies in Australia for the promotion of active living including Active for Life and Active Australia. Ian is a formal ambassador for the Victorian Government’s Go For Your Life initiative.
Ian is a strong advocate for widespread participation in informal and incidental activity, as well as recreation and sport. A major focus of his current endeavours is the facilitation of an intersectoral, collaborative and strategic approach to community building and health promotion through for walking.
