Funding Opportunity - Municipal Governments

 On May 23, 2007, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, through its Green Municipal Fund (GMF), will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for financing to support projects that result in one or more of the following:

  1. acquisition (or retrofit) and operation of energy-efficient or emissions-reducing municipal vehicles;
  2. implementation of transit-related infrastructure program initiatives that improve transit service, encourage ridership, and increase transit person-trips,
  3. an increase in the levels of walking, cycling or ridesharing.

GMF will award a total of up to $10 million in loans and up to $1.6 million in grants to selected Canadian municipalities under this RFP.

The GMF operates at arms-length from the federal government, and supports municipal governments, and their partners, to improve to quality of our air, water and soil, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As the only national fund that specifically addresses the needs of municipal governments, its broad range of financial products, resources, expertise and services have become the first stop for municipal governments wanting to pursue environmental infrastructure initiatives.
